Well... here it is!! Over 2 years late, but as the saying goes; 'Better late than never!',

First off, acknowledgements:

To my darling Sarah; Thank you for being SO patient with me and for all your support and encouragement during this past 2 years!!!! Ich liebe dich SEHR mein Engel

To Padraig and all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice when they set out that fateful week, 93 Years ago, to free their country from the shackles of John Bull!!!!

Kristi; Thank you for all your support in interpreting words to pictures!

And finally; Thank you to all my loyal supporters and subscribers for not deserting me during my drought in videos! Especially 'Wolfetonerebels' for sending me two of his pictures (2:31-2:33 and 5:10-5:15).

Ok... This particular epic is taken from their 1966 'Freedom Sons' album which was recorded Live in The Point, Dublin, as part of the country's 50th anniversary commemorations for the 1916 Easter Rising.

Enjoy a coidre.

A Jackeen was a pejorative term for a Dubliner who sided with the British. It comes from Union Jack, the British flag. Many forget in the election of 1922, Dublin went almost solidly Orange or Unionist.

sidcup12 is right actually, during the rising a lot of Dubliners did shout at them to go off and fight in the war like men. That's an actual quote from an ex IRA member. Now they're thankful like, but back then when the lads were in the GPO they were getting abuse!

Great slide-show and choice of artists for a classic.

Give Tom Clancy credit for his reading of Keats. He did a great job as he did with "The Rising Of The Moon" and Bonnie Charlie" Up the republic. Red

I think that Sidcup12 is speaking about Dubliners during Easter Week in 1916 during the Rebellion. In fact it is true that many did not pay heed to the events. It is a well known fact that only while the leaders of the Rebellion were being executed did general public opinion sway toward Republicanism and independence. But at the same time I do not see the point of writing the comment. Éire abú!

the author of the previous comment was referring (rightly or wrongly) to public opinion at the time of the rising. The subject which the monologue in the video discusses.

@Sidcup12 You TWAT(!) They did nothing of the thing.... If we are to believe your comment (and there is more chance of HMQ pardoning the 10 Hunger Strikers) then why TF has Arbour Hill and Kilmainham Gaol been turned into a nation tourist destination and every year the Rising is commemorated by a march past, down Sackville Street, and various tv shows dedicated to that week? As DurtDurty says 'You're a fucking idiot'!!!
