I want to make a correction: it was a long-standing rumour about the Ronettes working on this track. The truth is (and I only recently got the correct story) is, Toni Wine & Irwin Levine (the song's writers) were ALSO working on material for the Ronettes (a version of this song was possibly recorded by the Ronettes, though, obviously not released - yet).

One song - recorded by Ronnie (only 3 acetates exist) is called 'Lovely La Dee Day - which is the hook the Chiffons sang in the back-up part of THIS song.

..........one of my very favorite songs by the fantastic CHIFFONS. I bought this 45 back in the 1960's and played it for years and years until it came out on CD. I love when Judy comes in with "make believe that I've been crying........." Those CHIFFONS were also something!

I can definitely see Ronnie Spector having done a version of this; it's perfectly suited for her. Is it just me, or does that actually sound like her on lead beginning at 1:30? Perhaps the Ronettes did more than just 'backup" vocals here.

@uszoninyc Really!? I didn't know that! The Ronettes are my favourite of the girl groups :) It would be cool to hear Ronnie's version :) Thanks for watching, commenting, and the info! :)

A GREAT song by the Chiffons. It was also their last recording as a group. Rumour has it that backup vocals included the (FABULOUS) Ronettes - they too, disbanding. Love me was penned by Toni Wine and Irwin Levine, who also wrote You Came,mYou Saw, You Conquered at the same time (the songs have some similarity, as well). Another rumor is that Ronnie Spector recorded a version of Love Me as well as an album's worth of material - so far, unreleased.
