It was because of the cover. I was a very shy guy in high school :)

I was too embarrassed to buy the album in a record store, so I ordered the cassette by mail *LOL*

Can anyone tell me what that weird growling/laughing noise near 0:59 is? Am I the only one who hears it?

Those flipping boom boxes that needed ten D batteries playing our cassettes and radio tunes. Man .... even MTV had us looking forward to watch our favorite videos come on. Just sitting around enjoying each other's company and talking smack with no one's feeling getting all butt hurt and crying about it. The fooball table and concerts we all bought T shirts for sporting our concert tickets like it was some magical trip. The chicks with tight skirts and no panties or bras. Fun times ...

Can someone explain this song to me and what it tells about the late 70's context ? I have an intense feeling about it thanks mostly to the music and I understand the words & sentences even if I'm not a native english speaker but the whole meaning really...I don't get it. Doomed lovestory ? An outlaw couple ? "Provocative" people bounding ? Drug addicts ? Runaways ? Teenagers being bored...? I feel like it's way more complicated than that, that I'm missing a lot here.
