In your blue room sit with a candle lit

On a charcoal bed of dreams you carry on

Though the streets are hot you can still a lot

But you can walk out and forget there isn't time to take a loan

But you're now into something that you were immune to before

And there wasn't a sign you just fell into line at the door

And the question sands in the palms of hands

Of the wretches picking pieces of their minds up off the floor

On the mantel place there is still a trace

Of the plastic face you hung your moments on

And the sudden scare of a landing there on the sea

That you don't care to even see when you're alone

But the day is too short and you can't find support in the sun

You had thought you'd decide to just stick out the ride as it comes

But the emptiness of a thing that's less than what it was thought to be

Has left you wondering just how much more

Why this was left to rot in the vaults for over 20 years still boggles the mind.

Thanks Thing. Another one from Gene underrated whatever the reasond may be. Happy there are Gene Clark music lovers that lead me here.

Thanks for this explanation!

Another great song by Gene Clark. Probably the main reason it was left off was that the other guys were tired of seeing Gene get all the songwriting money - so they wanted more of their songs on the album instead....

@aberloof Agreed, I really hate "Wait and See."

Kinda funny how I went from looking at 66-67 Ford Fairlane parts to youtube listening to great music from that era :)

As "Wait and see" is one of my favorite Byrds tracks I wouldn't have been happy having it replaced with anything else, and particularly not with "The Day Walk", but it's a great shame that "She don't care about time" wasn't inculded on the original TTT album.

If this song and 'She Dont Care About Time' replaced 'Oh Susannah' and 'Wait & See' it would be a perfect album.

This song should have been on the original LP instead of Oh Susannah. Great song.
