The Byrds - Feel A Whole Lot Better w/ lyrics

lyrics

The reason why,

Oh, I can say,

I have to let you go, go.

And right away.

After what you did

I can't stay on.

And I'll probably feel a whole lot better

When you're gone.

Baby, for a long time

You had me believe

That your love was all mine

And that's the way it would be.

But I didn't know

That you were putting me on.

And I'll probably feel a whole lot better

When you're gone.

Now, I've got to say

That it's not like before,

And I'm not gonna play

Your games any more.

After what you did

I can't stay on.

And I'll probably feel a whole lot better

When you're gone.

Oh, when you're gone.

Oh, when you're gone.

Oh, when you're gone.

I love a lorry-load of Byrds songs, but this is my fave by a long way. It was the sheer quality of the song that made the initial impact, it shook me - then I noticed the incredible qualities of the lead singer's/songwriter's voice! God rest Gene Clark, hell-raiser, part native-American and misunderstood genius.

I shudder to think what he Byrds would have sounded like if McGuinn hadn't see A hard day's Night and decided to buy a 12 string Ric because he saw it onscreen. When he opens it up it makes the rest of the guitars sound like toys. What a great combo the instrument and Roger's banjo-style finger rolls. Great great sound.

And the Searchers took "Needles and Pins" from Jackie DeShannon (along with "When You Walk in the Room").
