"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." Goering at the Nuremberg TrialsThere is a plague of Evil on this world, fed by big money, and the media. Never trust lawyers, politicians, “yes men," or the parasites that feed from them, by their choice of vocation they have shown that their conscience can be bought.

Try singing this song's lyrics as loud as you can. It's quite rather liberating & exhilarating to do so. Dylan never sounded this heartfelt & sincere. By the way, I am 58 yrs old and I respect all Vets for what they have done for our Country.

The Byrds covered 7 of Dylan's songs but this, IMHO, is the absolute best. Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark and Chis Hillman were the heart & soul of this great 60's band. Along the way came David Crosby and, later in the Rockabilly years, Graham Parsons. The late Gene Clark was the father of The Byrds but it was McGuinn's 12 string electric Rickenbacker that created their signature sound.........

75th Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cav, H. Company; June 1969 - July 1970. I still speak the names, out loud, of the friends I lost in that fucking war ~ to make sure they are never forgotten. I came home to a country that was unable to understand the difference between disliking a war and disliking those who served.

Hey Slacker614, I like it too. I served for 11 months as a pilot with the 68th Assault Helicopter Co., III CTZ, RVN- an engine failure into the jungle cut my tour short. I arrived in country at age 19 but when I left, I was very old. When I got home I had trouble relating to my peers, my friends, because they were just kids and I was so old and my thoughts and feelings were so much older. At age 64, I am younger now.
