On this particular track, it is still the "FA" lineup. Later redone on the 1973 Byrds album and Roger's 3rd solo album in 1975. This the best one. I put all 3 versions inmy Byrds playlist. Thanks for the upload!

Well, it is always good when the line-up never changes, but that is tough to pull off, so, yes, I see your point. I would not have minded a new name, because the band was so different after a couple of years. The evolution was stunning.

Don't you wish McGuinn had changed the name of the band iunstead of calling hsi final lineup The Byrds. There were only ever five Byrds.

I did some research, and the result was, you're right and I was wrong. "Lost My Drivin' Wheel" is the only song of the Farther Along outtakes, in which McGuinn said he used other musicians.

I wonder whether, like some of the other songs labeled as outtakes from Farther Along, this is actually McGuinn with studio musicians.

I cannot understand how The Byrds became so badly wounded at this point. The boys surely hit the end of the road... Literally. It shows on the front cover. Well, at least this final line-up of the band met its end. The return of the original members was an unexpected miracle for making one more album before hitting the showers, and so the reunions that came years later would pay great tribute to the old days.
