Well, to some extent, the "swinging 60s" was a myth propagated and exploited by the media in America and abroad. There were indeed some people who were able to live that lifestyle(most had wealth) but, ten times as many adopted the look and still worked their nine-to-five jobs, paid their rent and lived rather ordinary lives. A lot of others got into things they were not emotionally and psychologically equipped to handle and got very hurt. It was not a happy or carefree time in any way.

Great to see that you also appriciate it! I am theology student these days, and writing analysis on swinging 60's and other music is no longer top priority but as I heard of the passing of Swami Probhu Sharan, a star from the hamburg scene sound era, someone I really looked up to, I started reconnecting my turn table and getting original releases of other acts also, as the byrds, and I am in a phaf reviewing this material at rateyourmusic ,you check out if interested! /Freidun

I love this one too.and your analysis is spot on. The Byrds were unique and when they were good, no one could touch them for a pure folk-rock sound.

this really byrds at the prime, fluid yet rich melodic structures and a mellowness and down to earth feel very unique for this perticular LP and David Crosbys production. I own all their LP's but this is my definite fave, it's so refined and delicately put together, I finally found a vinyl copy of it also... hey just listen to the coda break after all goes quiet and for the build up for the last verse, that jangle, the flow, they really nailed it on this album.
