So many years and so many times have gone by and many of our friends have gone already and yet the Beach Boys live on in beautiful harmony and words we can attach ourselves to and through it all we became one with the world around us. To good friends everywhere, we are better people and our legacy is long but it to will come to an end, but while we lived, WE LIVED IT ALL! peace and love be yours my friends.

The harmony at 0:40 might be the greatest thing ever recorded.

this always bring a heavy hearted feeling of the good times that are wasted in the fast pace of life!

What makes this song a bit sadder is how dramatically different this and 'Pacific Coast Highway' are to the rest of the album. The rest of the songs are them pretending they're younger (to mostly middling effect), but those other two are them accepting reality. And I'm glad they did it through song. Definitely a classic waiting to happen.

If this really is the culmination of the Beach Boys career........what an amazing legacy for real music lovers for evermore!50 years of amazing perfection. Even Beethoven or Mozart have been eclipsed!

This album has that very somber, darker feel to it; and I think it is rather fitting; especially with "Summers Gone." This song is that the finishing touch to The Beach Boys' works; both metaphorically ad literally. Yes it's the last song on the last album they do, but It's kind of sad when you sit and think that they'll never make another album again. And I find "Summers Gone" to become even more eerie in the metaphorical sense because It feels like the long lasting summer that had started in '62 is now over. I feel like a kid who has lived through all the joys of a perfect 3 month summer and is now sad to see it come to an end. Yes, we have the Beach Boys' many works to allow us to reminisce and keep alive their harmonies, but something about the five not being with each other any more for as long as the world rotates is quite daunting. It feels like summer is truly gone.

Bought the album in June 2012, saw the band's 50th anniv show the next day, great show, what a high I was on - Then 3 days later my Dad died suddenly, and summer ended right then and there. So hard to listen to this song without thinking about Dad - miss you Pop, love ya always.

This song deserves to be placed alongside the greatest Brian Wilson compositions. Absolutely stunning.

The beginning of Summer's Gone echoes the beginning of Brian's Mt. Vernon And Fairway. Intentional or subliminal there seems to be a connection.
