Brian thought her chopping her hair in spite of his begging was a betrayal, and it was. Remember that the guys are often the romantics. If you're under 40 and this song doesn't bring a tear to your eye, you have no soul. It's everyone's story of lost youth, innocent and painful, and it was written by a 23 year old man. I've listened to this song in all its performances and recordings thousands of times and I've never lost the emotion.
