Cover version of THE CHANGIN' TIMES 1965 song (also done by The La De Dahs in 1966).

HOW IS THE AIR UP THERE, from the 1982 self-titled EP from The Bangles. The Bangles were the most famous of the bands from the so-called 'Paisley Underground' scene of the early 80's.

in a perfect world only the band writes songs ,before they had hits with songs they worte or co-wrote cyndi and madonna didn't write most of their earliest , biggest hits. the irony of barry manilow not writing ' i write the songs' .lol.

Sounds a lot like early Blondie, in voice and attitude!

Up until now the La De Da's version of this song is the only one I've ever known about - its great and powerful and a peon railing against the unobtainable that is in all women and while I like ex-Bangles Susanna Hoffs as a solo performer, this rendition of, How Is The Air Up There, is really just a novelty for my listening ears to enjoy. Thanks heeps for posting.

Sorry, but the La De Da's did it better. And the La De Da's were from my country of Kiwi Land, so i heard their's first.

@txcowpatty I wish more people knew of them during this phase. I was obsessed with this ep when it came out. When their first major label release came out and I saw what the label did to them, i was devastated. Still, they did go on to produce some good pop, until Walk Like an Egyptian put the final nail in their coffin. For me at least.

Great cover of a iconic Kiwi band. The La De Da's take this number home.

I loved The Bangles when they had a more rougher, garage band sound!

I know the Changin' Times made the original, and their version is OK, but I always preferred the fuzzed-out treatment that the La De Das gave it. Obviously the Bangles did too, as this version closely matches the La De Das' cover. They did a great job of it, in my opinion, and it was even hotter in concert, back in '82.

oh really? I always thought the La-De-Das did it first. I always wondered how an Ozzie band managed to score a song written by Americans. Now I know. I'll have to look up the Changin' Times.

Always dug this tune, never knew this was a cover -- I'll hafta go check out the original.

Still, not a bad version, back when The Bangles were unpolished and not made up within an inch of their lives...just cool girl rockers

The original - 1965 by "The Changin Times" is far better. Written by Artie Kornfeld (Woodstock Festival) and Steve Duboff (The rain, the park and other things)
