Remember a little band in the 60's called The Association? That same band whose biggest hits were Along Comes Mary (1966 - #7), Cherish (1966 - #1), Windy (1967 - #1), and Never My Love (1967 - #2). "Dreamer", released on Elektra Records, was The Association's final appearance on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, getting only as high as #66 in 1981. They released one more single on Elektra that same year with "Small Town Lovers", which never charted. For a song that received hardly ANY promotion, if at all, "Dreamer" did fairly decent chart-wise. Had it received a more aggressive promotion and more airplay, "Dreamer" could have been a bigger hit, and a better chart fate.

Written and originally recorded by Moon Martin. I put both versions in my Association playlist. Thanks for the upload -- both versions sound a lot like the Beach Boys!

I saw the fake group that was touring in 1980. They had so much success that the real group decided to get together again. I knew the other group was fake when I requested "Everything that Touches You" ,and they never heard of it! They did have the sound down pretty good though.

I heard them sing this live at Knotts Berry Farm in 1981 when the album came out. I went to the record store a couple days later to find the album, but it wasn't there yet. Great song to be their last one on the charts!

Wow, I was too young to know their 1960's music. Heard this a few times on the radio in 1981 and almost forgot how much I liked it. Don't know how you found it, but thanks for posting.

It is always wonderful to see a long-gone group have a chance for that last masterpiece - they were never better.
