One Too Many Mornings

Bob Dylan

"Live"

The Association

Down the street the dogs are barkin'

And the day is gettin' dark

As the night comes in a-fallin'

The dogs will lose their bark

And the silent night will shatter

From the sounds inside my mind

And I'm one too many mornings

And a thousand miles behind

Behind

And from the crossroads of my doorstep

My eyes, they start to fade

As I turn my head back to the room

Where my love and I have laid

And I gaze back to the street

The sidewalk, and the sign

And I'm one too many mornings

And a thousand miles behind

Behind

Yes it's a restless hungry feeling

It don't mean no one no good

And everything that we are a-sayin'

You can say it say it just as good

Yes I know you're right from your side,

I'm right from mine

We're both just too many mornings

And a thousand miles behind

We're both just too many mornings

And a thousand miles behind

They butchered the song. But so have a lot of people, including Dylan when he jazzed it up.

This is a more rockin' version of what is on their "Just The Right Sound" collection (which is more bluesy in style).

I saw Back Seat of Heaven performed on the Mike Douglas Show in the early 80's and again on Tom Snyder.

"Coolest dad"...Terry Kirkman sang lead on "Wasn't It a Bit Like Now" until the bridge. Then it was Larry Ramos. Jim Yester sang lead for "Goodbye Columbus." "Are You Ready" was Larry Ramos. "Blistered" was either Russ Gigueri or Brian Cole. And, "Requiem for the Masses" was Terry Kirkman!

This group was so underrated. They we hands-down one of the best vocal bands of that era. I've seen them perform live a number of times and their harmonies were always spot-on, in addition to being great musicians. I'm trying to track down a recording of a song called, "Backseat of Heaven". They performed in in concert but it never got released. I'm pretty sure it did get recorded, though.

I saw these guys perform essentially this same concert 6 months earlier in the fall of '69. They were awesome beyond words. Anyone who ever saw The Association in concert knew that they were one of the greatest American bands ever. They should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Hey Cool Dad ... Sorry didn't get back to this sooner. I'll have to listen and I can tell you I'm sure. Goodbye Columbus I'm sure is Russ and Larry (I've heard them do it enough times live I should know without question). Anyway, I'll check and get back with you. I'm [email protected] is you want to email me directly.

I have this album and got it through the Columbia Record House back in the70's!I love this album even today!Matter of fact I just got a new needle for my turntable and listened to 3 sides of this yesterday!I also have this on CD.The Assoc is one of my all time favorite bands from any decade! The worst thing for me is,I have never seen them live.I always wanted to but not sure how much they played in the Atlanta area in the late 70's and 80's when I was still going to concerts.Love this band!
