I have to say I like it because I like Tex Williams. But I feel that his voice might have been just too low for this song. Perhaps if Tom T Hall didn't have the big hit with it, I may have thought differently. Got to be honest. 10 years ago

The only other i recall singing this was Phil Harris on the Tonight Show back in the 70's, Roy Clark pick the guitar as he was fillin in for Johnny Carson that night. Phil of course was Jack Benny head band leader and Tex Williams back then was Spade Cooley lead singer, both Tex and Phil voices sound so close together, if you wonder how Phil sing it, just listen to Tex lol..thanks for the comments and the listen11 years ago
