This is another song from the album that Frankie went to Nashville in 1986

hoping to get some respect in the Country Capitol Of The World.

From the album "A Country Laine" is

"(old Dogs-Children and) Watermellon Wine. P.S. I used my Grand Kids and the kids next door plus the dogs we have had over the years in the clips.

I think frankie's version is a hell of a lot better, just heard tom t hall his version is good but cannot understand why Frankie did not have a hit with this in the charts

Much as I like Franky Laine he should have steered clear of this. He wrecks it, sorry. I am in my 60's, so have listened to Franky for years, this is not his genre.

Great sentimental song. Wonderful version.

You may be right, but then how did Dean Martin (Crocetti) get on there? I guess Frankie just wanted to add a personnel touch to his version.

Perhaps Nashville was more open to accepting pop singers who had "WASP" backgrounds than urban ethnics from Chicago with names like Lovecchio. BTW-- I love the way Frankie changed the TV show that was playing from "Ironsides" in the Tom T. Hall rendition to "Rawhide"!

no they couldn't. but if you look in the book of "Top 40 Country Hits" by Joel Whitburg, there are several Pop singers of that period listed in it.
