This isn't a bad cover (the instrumentation is rather good, for example) but it has completely lost the depressing, mourning, chaotic yet calm and spaced-out energy which made MM's original so damn great. But the vocals are terrible.

These covers seem kinda boring...like the bending of the strings/over instrumental stuff that made the original great was removed. Meh kept the lyrics but changed his voice so it's quieter and softer...not quite a calming affect. More boring

The problem I have with these sun kil moon covers is that they take away from the meaning of the song. The meaning of MM songs is also shown through the emotion use. With the way sun kil moon does it, it just sound like a lullaby.

It's true, covers are supposed to be different. This style of music does bring the lyrics to surface more. But part of the beauty of Modest Mouse is searching for what Isaac is saying. It wouldn't be the same if they were put right in front of you. Trying my hardest not to criticize an artist, but you can't expect anything less when you make a whole album of Modest Mouse covers. It's just risky territory.
