you are only making the link between pop and soft because popular music is what people hear on the radio because they are too lazy to go explore their own music, so popular music is the softer stuff... Most rock bands are now targeting at the more pop area of music, i mean look at Green day and foo fighters, latest albums have been mainstream, MCR did wise to quit before they lost their sound...
