I think it's because, after the breakdown/bridge/whatever you want to call that, it switches from G to D on the album version, but they play that in drop, so it goes down lower than a guitar in standard tuning does. They tuned everything down a half step for this show, so the song is now in Ab and switches to Eb for the post-breakdown part. It's just to avoid tuning down, I think. But I could be totally off on the reasoning; it's just what makes sense to me.
