Definitely prefer the new lineup to this one. Not a fan of this lead singer, at all. Reminds me of a male version of the female lead singer of Mealticket back in the day - probably 20 years ago. God, I'm getting old. Plus their "Day Job" album is probably one of my top 20 ska albums, in over 25 years of listening to ska music. Awesome album.

The lineup in this video was the best SL. The two trombones and two trumpets added a depth not heard since Onigo Boingo. Chris on vocals got even better as he found his style and didn't try to be a Danny Elfman descendant. Having the harmony vocals by, I think his brother??? that also played trumpet, brought a lot too. But, the only thing that stays the same is change and now DL is something different.

He had such a generic goofy ska voice, it just wasn't working

Upstrokes and horns in a faster-than-reggae tempo, that's really all you need to be a "ska" band. You can't put a genre in a box like that, third wave I feel was a natural progression from first wave, it adapted ska to the times, just as what second wave bands did. It doesn't have to sound like The Specials or The Selecter or the Skatalites to be a real ska band, if they did sound that way, you'd be complaining that it's just a rehash of old stuff and doesn't try anything new

Which singer are you even referring to? There have been three singers

Have no problem with the music, just a problem calling it "ska". Didn't we learn our lesson in the 90's that goofy 3rd wave is a far cry from real ska? Throwing some horns into pop-punk and having the guitar strum on the up-beat doesn't make it ska. It's like calling psychobilly "jazz" cuz of the standup bass.
