*Mademoiselle*Tell me where are you goingSweet mademoiselleTo London or ParisTo the Grand HotelWhere do you go at the end of the dayWhere do you go, when you spend time awayTo islands in the tropic sandsOr pleasure trips to distant landsYou're searching for a dreamWell maybe it's me.I tell you helloAnd what do you sayAs I stop you goThere's no reason to stayIt all began so harmlesslyYou gave me love so easilyI never realized you were just spending timeTell me where are you goingSweet mademoiselleTo London or ParisTo the Grand HotelEven though you're far awayI think about you every dayAnd wonder if you're thinking of meIn a fond memorySweet mademoiselleTell me where are you goingSweet mademoiselleTo London or ParisOu MontrealSweet Mademoiselle

Dennis DeYoung didn't write Suite Mademoiselle, Tommy Shay did. And Crystal Ball. Dennis DeYoung did write Suite Madam Blue tho and no one can argue what a great voice Dennis had (I seen every tour live). Only better voice I have seen/heard live was Freddy Mercury/Queen RIP.Tommy Shaw was playing with a different band when he was in Chicago and JY asked him to audition because their other guitarist had just quit the band. The rest is history from Crystal Ball forward.

Definitely Tommy. It is a reworking of a song he wrote for a band he was in before joining Styx.

tommys contributions to styx were so pronounced and immediate, unbelievable considering the guy he replaced was basically a rhythm guitarist and never sang lead.

The way it was , Bands could write hit songs year after year, The level of talent in the 60s and 70s was huge. now its garbage , Beiber and Gaga would never have made it back then , Even the glam bands had talent.

Tommy wrote it and sings it... after DeYoung left, J.Y. and Tommy trade-off... at least from all of the performances I've seen 'em in since '76 (1st time I ever saw them...).

Back in 75-77, it was apparent Equinox was a good record, and me and the buds played Suite Madame Blue aplenty. A bit later this came out, and raised eyebrows. This new guy tossed off pop songs like clothing. Plenty of airplay (in a day when radio was more limited in it's choices). Then came another step forward...Grand Illusion....which was a radio feast, and the mountain had been climbed, as far as qualities were concerned.

I saw Styx with my girlfriend (a transplanted southern belle from North Carolina) when I was almost finished with college. It was a euphoric time knowing that I had made through the struggles of college but still had a ton of optimism for the future even though I still didn't know if I was going to start a new job or travel or whatever. When you have time (or think you do) it's a great time to be young and alive. This song made the night complete. Go for it while you're young and make memories.
