The whole city of Chicago roared when this album came out -- they sold out Chicago Stadium opening for Bachman Turner Overdrive and everybody said STYX was the better band. I stood 6th row at Chicago Stadium when Dennis DeYoung picked up a microphone by the stand so he could walk around while singing. The base just fell off -- he laid it down then walked over to another stand while the band played -- this one was by me -- he picked it up and the base fell off again. He was furious, slammed what was left of the stand and the mike on the stage floor and glared eyes of Hades at the side of the stage. The roadies practically had heart failure! He found still a 3rd mike and finished the song; they flew across the stage, fixed them both and it didn't happen again. Their faces were like sheets.

Equinox is one of the better albums. Keep digging Styx has more hits than just about any band I know. We used to open with this song back in 1977. It was a huge hit on the radio. and yes Everyone would Light up. Those were the days you could smoke up the whole auditorium and nobody cared. Even though I still play and have many Hit songs around the world. I miss those days more when I was nobody.
