The band 100% nailed it. If it weren't for the vocal I'd have thought this was a live Steely Dan performance. So standing ovation props on that. The vocals had a tough standard to meet. It was kinda cruise ship Anglo-generic unable to give the gravitas the lyrics call for but then again Donald Fagen's singular voice defines Steely Dan.

There's one thing that comes always to my mind when somebody instead of Donald is singing SD-songs. Donald has such a phenomenal way to groove in his singing that is absolutly unique. Good Band though.

wow this is a really great cover band, and far and away the best cover i've heard of this song. nice to see everyone having fun with it, too. as an amateur trombonist, playing backup horns for a steely dan cover band is a lifelong dream of mine, and these guys nailed it.

shit's legit. can I join your band and just nod my head whilst you play? Lead singer needs some Ray Ban's. ;)

HGr Jos Haagmans

@tmss784, I disagree. This drummer nails the feel. I'd agree that he doesn't LOOK so loose while playing. OTOH, some may confuse not hitting very hard with lack of soul. But if simply LISTENING to the music, what I hear is: good feel, 8th notes swung just right, solid internal dynamics, especially with the HH vs. snare ghosting. Very convincing overall. I actually prefer this to some of Ricky Lawson's live performances of the song (where it's a monotonous open HH on EVERY single and of 4. Ugh.)
