One of the greatest guitarists today.

On his latest album the Louisiana-based slide guitar wizard does something unprecedented in his body of work, as he collaborates with five of the greatest guitar players on the planet -- Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson and Vince Gill -- for some jaw-dropping performances. Also making a house call is legendary New Orleans pianist and singer Dr. John and iconic Gulf Coast troubadour Jimmy Buffett.

amazing.

Sonny must be seen to truly appreciate what is going on on that Strat fretboard! He typically plays smaller venues so the up close & personal is obtainable. Joe Bonamassa said it best when he described Sonny as "a freak of nature" - no one plays slide like this man - a true genius!!

Zydeco on acid! Why is this brilliant virtuoso not better known? He puts most contemporary guitarists in the shade, and that includes some well-known names ...

An amazing talent. That said, I still think that both he and John Hiatt should be required to tour together with each performing their own set and then also performing together. The synergy they have together make peanut butter and chocolate pale by comparison... ;-)

Sonny is from Canton, Mississippi and grew up in Lafayette, La.The bass player is Dave Ranson. I believe Sonny and Dave have been playing together since high school in the late 1960s.Check out John Mayhall's album, A Sense of Place. Sonny & the Goners back up the blues legend and Mayhall does a couple of Sonny's tunes.

Truely one of the best slide players ever, and a true gentleman. I had the please of seeing him four times in 2014 and the honor of a private lesson with him. (That was 6 months ago and I still haven't digested everything he threw at me). Great video. Thanks for posting
