This is a song about your own feelings, and the performers own experiences. I love Hoyt Axton, (sure miss him) and Arlo Guthrie songs, and their versions of this one compliments each others. I've been to wild Montana in a storm.

I agree with 9erfandex, I've always loved Arlo's version off of Hobo's Lullabye, but to hear the original is nothing short of amazing... also the man who wrote three dog night's hit "Joy to the World" and Ringo Starr's hit "the no-no song." You can see Hoyt and Arlo singing "Refugees" together here on Youtube, and also Hoyt and Ringo singing the "no-no song."
