Lyrics:

When they chop

Down this tree

I won't be around, no

When they come

After me

I won't be found, no

No no, oh no

There's no more failure to erase

Oh no

With finger prints upon a glass

Lazy river winds

Forever roaming far

The sunsets out of reach

The skies I've longed to touch

Lazy river roam of cottonwood symphony

Unlock the box

The key is yours

The treasures you forgot

Are well preserved

Lazy river roam

When they take

Shake for grace

Trouble thee no more

Can't this love

Without room

Be considered home, no

No no, no no

No Cleopatra to escape

Oh no

With trinkets found along the road

Flow river flow

Forever roaming far

The sunsets out of reach

The skies I've longed to touch

Lazy river roam of cottonwood symphony

Of cottonwood symphony

People forget or don't realize, Smashing Pumpkins are Billy Corgan and this song is very Billy Corgan. Jimmy added the epic drums, but Smashing Pumpkins are all Billy Corgan in the end. As it should be!

Ichiro Maeda@ Smashing Pumpkins songs are whatever Corgan feels like writing. He's never been one dimensional. He's always been this way and that's why people love the Pumpkins. Corgan shows that YES you can be an artist that writes killer rock tunes that kick your ass and at the same time have stuff that goes in other directions as well. Smashing Pumpkins is for open minds

Are you kidding??. This song is so BEAUTIFUL, different and new. Reminds me of the Tonight Tonight B-sides ....I love it. .like meladori magpie. It outdoes every song put out for Teargarden or at least ties with Song for a Son and Tom Tom. Billys voice does something it rarely does, the vibrato is beautiful. GOOD Stuff

While I agree that these lyrics are pretty good, I gotta say he did kind of lose the touch with Oceania lyrically. However, not to knock just him, it appears another of my favorites (DMB, yes completely different ends of the spectrum) has kind of done the same too. I don't know. With the music industry how it is now, maybe the thought isn't there no more. Maybe we're just seeing where the industry goes first. Good thing I care about the music itself more.

Ya it's one of those two. I was thinking it might be a banjo but harder to distinguish because it sounds more like a strum and Banjo's are generally picked. Plus I feel if it was a mandolin the song would be called something more italian

it sounds like a mandolin to me. It kinda sounds like it has the ringing double string effect.

I think it's a Banjo; it would make more sense given the title...

SWAVE BAND

@martiriobaby I agree. I like living the past, the present and the future of SP. ¿So what? By the way, when I met Billy Corgan in 2010, I gave him a record of my band that has a mix of old & fresh sound and he adored it (pls. don´t miss the "in the future" video in my channel) BEST REGARDS! :)

@fips30537 actually now that you say that this song really does grow on you, i think i remember not liking this at first now i think its the bets on the album actually hell all of SP's new stuff grows on you, i think thats why it gets so much hate, people hear it onc enot giivng it a second shot, i remember thinking death from above was awful the first time i heard it and now i cant get enough of it, hey i people want to hate on them then its their loss, their just 1 of a kind

@warrush or just hear all the music he hasnt recorded like as rome burns or peace+love, not love the song "peace+love" billy is still a musical genious, hes always changed styles with each album, people are overreacting about the sound of teargarden, i wonder what they will find to complain about with oceania which will be amazing anyway but people will still find a way to hate it, its sorta like how with zeitgeist everyone said it was bad but cant give a valid reaosn other than nitpicking

@ShopliftersUnite he's never lost it he's just not as angry as he used to be and his head is in a different musical direction as always

@ShopliftersUnite Try listening to The Rose March he did on Chris Isaak, that shows he hasn't lost it.
