I have a theory about this. Given the general hipster vibe of the show, the people making it, including the puppeteer, are probably in their thirties somewhere. That is, they would have been teenagers or round about the time Sloan were really big, like Twice Removed. This puppeteer had a crush on the band back in the day. Watch how the puppet is right up against all the band members throughout the video. Uncommfortably close. It becomes clear. Under the guise of getting an iconic Canadian band's involvement in a wholesome children's show, the puppeteer proceeds with her secret plan to molest Sloan on camera on the CBC while getting paid for it. ;)
