Music video for "Losing California" by Sloan. This song was the first single off their 1999 album "Between the Bridges". This video cost $60,000 to make. Previously I made a disparaging comment in this description about how I didn't think it should have cost that much (leading to a variety of comments below). Now, 5 years later, I formally recant. I'm sorry, Sloan, I'm sure the cost of this music video was completely justified.

I do not claim ownership over any aspect of this music video. If you like this, be sure to check out other stuff by Sloan and support them! http://www.sloanmusic.com/

My name is Joey and I am a happy baby kangaroo that loves Sloan. I want to play onstage with them and hop next to Patrick when he is in his perpetual state of grumpy man face. This would present an interesting dichotomy. Patrick looking like he's thinking about algebra and me hopping up and down very fast like I have to go to the bathroom. I will then proceed to take Murph's granny specs and place them in my tiny baby kangaroo pouch, thereby rendering him with blurry vision, causing him to walk straight into Jay mid-vocal. I will time this hilarity perfect during "The Lines You Amend", I will cause him to sound like this: "The one about Photographs, sung by Ringo StaaaaaAAAAAAARR!!!" In conclusion, I will hop into the audience yelling at the top of my lungs: "Andy Sabola! Andy Sabola!" and "ANDREW IS THE MOST UNDERRATED AND SOLID DRUMMER IN ROCK MUSIC!!!", grab a Sloan "Commonwealth" shirt at the door, and then happily hop home, having completed my mission and having satiated my sexual desires.

Honestly, at first I just thought they were referring to the fact that part of California is on the Pacific plate and literally sliding away from North America.

It's not the green screen that would cost money (although purchasing a green screen isn't cheap), it's the intricate camera work (crane and dolly shots) plus all the compositing work that would add up fast.

I thought it was generous of Justin bieber to write this song for them when he could have used it for himself

The comment above - cost $60,000 in 1999 - thought: the traveling matte effect plus colour correction plus cost to shoot plus shooting crew ( major label scale plus director )
