Sleep, go into detail about having the best time in the world, unity and dropping your guard.

Sleep evolved in the early 1990s and has exerted a considerable, consistent influence on modern heavy music ever since. The group split in 1997 after the release of two hugely influential albums—Sleep's Holy Mountain and D*pesmoker—returning triumphantly in 2009 when it performed two UK shows as part of All Tomorrow's Parties' (ATP) The Fans Strike Back festival, playing Holy Mountain in its entirety along with selections from D*pesmoker. The rabid fan response to the 2009 shows resulted in a run of U.S. live dates in September 2010 that immediately sold out. In celebrating the band's return, The New York Times referred to the trio as "excellent" and The Chicago Tribune called Sleep "stoner-rock titans."

Sleep has been my favourite band since I first heard them in the early nineties. It just took 15 years for people to be exposed...they were always amazing.

My friend played Sleep Vol 1 for me when it came out, I thought it was a Melvins rip off and blew it off. Then a couple years later Holy Mountain came out and I thought it was a total Sabbath rip off, but I kinda liked it. Then I think it was in 1996, I was talking to Josh from The Fucking Champs and he told me how Sleep had recorded an album that was one single hour long song, but their record label hated it and so it was never going to be released and it caused the band to break up. When he told me that story, that was when the Legend of Sleep began, for me anyway.

Sleep is now worshiped at the shrine of metal. I missed my chance to see them recently and I'm so sad about it. But, there is hope for a new album still. Al is God.

These guys are as great as ever! Although, I'm surprised they were using Marshalls rather than their original Green amps
