This is Eric Whitacre's song Sleep. I thought the images matched the song nicely. Performance by the BYU Singers, directed by Dr. Ronald Staheli. I hope you enjoy.

I heard this song at a Large Group cometition and am SO glad I found it. I didnt know the name of the song, but I just remembered that it said "Sleep" at the end of it. I just googled "Sleep choir song" and found it! Ahhh I love this SO much<3

Could someone help me? I have a question...To explain, I have an audition coming up and they may have me sing a section of this piece, so I am trying to cover it as well as I can. One measure (on this video it would be about 2:04, "there are voices") my music says "transparente." I understand how this sounds with the entire choir, but is there a way I am supposed to sing that sounds transparent? What exactly does that sound like in a solo?I've looked all over large glossaries of musical terms and have found some very large lists but none seem to have this word or a word similar to it.I'm auditioning for State chorus (school » district » regionals » states) and I'm somewhat a perfectionist!Any help is tremendously appreciated!! ♪♫

So beautiful...transcends me to a different place. Love this piece even though I cringe every time a chord goes unresolved

+metsfan7797 I think the one at 1:16 is a major triad with a minor 4th in there. Basically play a C triad (just for example) and then also play F simultaneously and you'll get the same effect. I think it's the same deal for the one at 0:57.Or I could be insane.

This is the best recording of Sleep. It's slower than Whitacre usually does it but I think that works better. This the first piece to ever make me shed tears just because of it's shear beauty. Eric Whitacre has made such an impact on the world of music. The man deserves nothing but respect. This and When David Heard I think are his best. If I had to choose I think When David Heard is the superior piece because of the emotional weight and turmoil it carries. But this is still profound and beautiful.

My choir did this song last year as our closing. That was the most powerful concert we'd ever done, I'm pretty sure. Whitacre is my favorite... Pure genius.
