A Place In The Country (1970)

Skeeter Davis sings a sad selfpenned song 'Lonely Bridge'. Recorded in October 1969 at RCA studio's, Nashville. Produced by Chet Atkins & Ronny Light. Note: sorry about the broken slideshow, the program I used wasn't working as intended

Lyric:

Lonely bridge standing there lonely just like me

Maybe you can help me end my misery

How many lovers used your heart for a stepping stone

When they made their plans so selfishly then left you all alone

How many people walked on ye before they left your side

Never caring that the river holds the teardrops that you cried

Lonely bridge you're reaching out and yet you cannot find

A warm sweet love to feel your arms they're empty just like mine

Lonely bridge standing there lonely just like me

Maybe you can help me end my misery

Well I guess I'm just like the others for now I'm walkin' on you too

And now just like them I'm gonna leave for the waters blue

My sorrow and my loneliness I'll leave here at your wall

Now lonely bridge please lift me up and gently let me fall

Into the peaceful waters where sadness isn't shown

There must be one more broken soul there so I won't be alone

Lonely bridge standing there lonely just like me

Thank you so for helping me end my misery

Used to listen to this album constantly as a child......"A Place In The Country", "I'm Giving Out of Giving In", and countless others. These songs are still beautiful today.

Always good to hear her voice. You are "GOD" sent in my opinion for generously sharing her songs. Thank you very very very much as always!

Bless you for LONELY BRIDGE. I have all Skeeter's records but no way to play them anymore! This one, The Final Step, Face of a Clown and Ask Me are my favorites! Now if I could hear the rock song Skeeter did (Don't Anybody Need My Love), I'd be a happy camper again! Hint. ;) THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS SONG!!!
