Hiyas! Long time no posting here.... holidays ansd stuff.... working a bit on some sort of 'solo' album ;)

So, I've got a message one of these days asking about Christine... this is kinda the way I think it was played. (Not necessarily how I explained it... I thought there was a drone E and A during the chorus, but watching the one live video available on youtube made me change my mind.

So, this one is for SonadoCWB... probably not 100% right, but it works...

PS: It's originally played on a 12-string steel guitar... mine's broken down forever, so I took ye olde nylon stinged beast for a ride.

PPS: Tuning's a whole step down.

There is a soundcheck versions somewhere here on YouTube where it's only JMG playing the guitar... (as far as I remember)...

Nice. Of course you can hardly hear the 12 string during the chorus, i had to back and listen, i think youre spot on.

There will always be "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by the Stones ;p

Oh the lazyness :P I should do one with a proper 12 string also... or at least, steel strings.

ure version is the exact of the albums version. for that weird verse chord ive discovered how they play it live. its 1/2 step down x4644x. try playing it with all the live versions and theres a demo here on you tube that the chord goes right along with it.

@SuperBlackface22 Hi there. I haven't done a tab to this one yet because I'm not that sure of it. But the key is tuning down a whole step all strings on the guitar... Perhaps I'll tab it soon =)

@Guedzilla I was trying another variation too, I think with a C in the 5th string, it doesn't sound strange either. Look for "SILENE - Christine" and see their cover. It's not 100% correct I think but looks like they used a similar chord shape as me. With the drop D it's easier to even do the bass riff (D#-D, played as F-E) if you wish while keeping the chord shape. It's not tuned down a half step I think because in the phaser bit (lala-ohoh) the chords are plain A-D.

@mtsn hmm... I don't know... on 00:46 you can definately tell that there's something going on on the lower strings with the ring finger... and pinky seems to be just resting there, bent next to the strings... I still haven't tried your suggestion though... maybe tonight after work...

@Guedzilla I think I found the secret: drop D tuning, 12-string, try this: 11134X. I could only try with the 6-string bc. I don't think the Variax can detune the 12-string, not with Workbench at least, you have to do it "manually". The octave parts are easier to play and sound better in drop D. I tried it with standard tuning + drop D, so with a half step down (not sure if it's needed) it's a plain Dsus2 (I guess) without the barred chord structure. Tested playing with the actual song as guide.

@Guedzilla yes this is why I've mentioned the 2 ways to play it, if you have a bass going along with you, you won't really need the extra F at the "bass" of your chord and it will sound a little better with the E on the bass IMHO. The Fmaj7 is 003210 (Stairway chord!), in my suggestion remove the C (the 1), do it as 003200. I have a Variax, will test the 12-string soon...

@mtsn That's very interesting. We can hear on the soundcheck recording here on youtube that he didn't care that much for making the bass notes while the bass was already doing it, so this could be it. Now we just need a 12-string to get to test it for real... oh, and the Fmaj7 you mean using both the open E and doing an E on the 4th string right? (as in 102200)

Forgot to mention in my last comment that when I talk about the "F note" there it's actually an Eb, of course, because it's tuned down.
