THATs what i like in drums solo.... Subtility, sensitivity and not Cacophonie like 80% time with drumer..In drum a silence can be a note also.

Une belle performance, mais je préfère le jeu et la manière dont joue Dylan Elise sur sa petite batterie(drums) en plein air dans les rues

So here's my opinion: first of all, one of THE most beautiful drum rigs ever produced. This is a great drum solo, despite the fact it starts with some buzz rolls. There is some very nice musicality here, melody, flow, dynamics. Mr. Phillips isn't showing off, he's speaking to those of us who enjoy a good musical drum solo with musical elements. He does not let the size of the set force him into beating the shit out of it and making a bunch of repetitive noise or flurries of disjointed sticking surges and/or whatever else.So please, for anyone who finds this boring, and I suppose that is a valid opinion, what do prefer? I ask that respectfully out of curiosity. Thanks

I don't know if any of you haters noticed the first section of this that you find boring is hands only....kick only for accents...let's see you do that and play anything remotely as interesting as that with just your hands

There are some amazing drummers out there all having great fun doing what they love. I was lucky enough to see Simon Phillips with Jeff beck when I was 16 in Birmingham UK. Now I'm 50 in Shanghai and still feel so thankful Simon Phillips is demonstrating the most wonderfully amazing all round musicality and creativeness of any drummer or percussionist I've heard. Please keep loving what you do Simon, I cannot even copy what you invent.

Simon was born with a drumstick in his hand... he probably came out drumstick first.

As for Simon, saw him w Jeff Beck on There and Back where he said it all. Also I worship at the foot of 801 live (check it out kids). So there you have it!

Kit sounds and looks great. Nice mix and I'm thinking you must have had a blast. Rush never was my cuppa tea but seriously y'all really going to bite into stuff like extra hat barks and china/ride interplay? Great job in what looks like a single take. Hats off!

I've come to the conclusion that drum solo's are boring, I'd rather watch a drummer play off a guitarist or something and groove. Simon's brilliant but this was boring shit with a shitty tone

The only negative comments are the people that obviously don't play.

He copied me on, i created this solo in open air and this guy was in the bushes and wrote it down on paper! This affair will not remain unknown. ;-)
