Wino tells Scion A/V about being laughed at because of your long hair...and what embracing melancholy sounds like.

Saint Vitus is an American doom metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 1978. They consist of founding members Dave Chandler (guitarist) and Mark Adams (bass), alongside legendary hard-rock icon Scott Weinrich and recently-added drummer Henry Vasquez. The band has been regarded and credited as one of the first bands of the genre, starting out as early as the late 1970s, along with Pentagram, Witchfinder General, Trouble and Candlemass. As of 2011, they have released seven studio albums.

After breaking up in 1996, Saint Vitus reunited again in 2008 with the band's classic line-up, and embarked on a successful tour. After 31 years in the band, Acosta was replaced by Henry Vasquez. The new line-up released their latest album in 2012, titled Lillie: F-65.

Which is hilarious on both Black Flag and Saint Vitus part, btw. Also it was really cool how Saint Vitus and The Obsessed (according to Wino) were accepted by punk-community.

it was very different in 1985 to be a "hip doomster" most of these 19 year old hipsters back then wouldnt be involved, it was very weird and not popular or that cool when everyone is wearing slayer shirts or d.r.i

Black Flag asked St Vitus to open for them with the intent to piss off the closed minded punk rock people who didn't like long hair, long songs or anything that wasn't faster than 200 bpm. It worked!

It must've sucked being in a doom band during the height of thrash metal popularity in the 80's. I can't imagine being in a band like Saint Vitus or the Obsessed and opening for Dark Angel or Slayer
