Ruthann Friedmans chief claim to fame is having written The Associations 1967 hit Windy. Less well known, however, is Constant Companion , her sole solo album recorded for Reprise in 1969. Waters reissue of the album seems timed to follow the success of other recently-rediscovered female singer-songwriters (Vashti Bunyan, Judee Sill) and the resurgence of 60s-inspired folk in general.

L'album è solo voce e chitarra acustica, talvolta s'ode la chitarra solista di Peter Kaukonen (fratello del più famoso Jorma) . Il brano Carry On (Glittering Dancer), bonus track nella ristampa, è l'unico in cui compare compare un arrangiamento orchestrale,. Il disco è stupendo ed affascinante, vivamente consigliato a chi ama il cantautorato triste, depresso e malinconico [genere che amo particolarmente] :))

Leggero.. con richiami folk-blues e una sonorità di sottofondo jazz!! La parte vocale è improntata a un blues molto soft!! Molto raffinato.. ;-)) Ciao
