It's hard to listen to this aria when you don't actually get the trills. They are SUPPOSED to be there, cleanly articulated. That's why I love Ponselle, Price, and Callas in this role. There are even more trills for this role (also in 'Di tale amor', the cabaletta to 'Tacea la notte placida') and when someone doesn't do them it feels wrong.10 years ago

Queen of trills. Yes. Some of her top notes have a shrill, white tone quality to them. Not pleasant. Maybe the fault is in the quality of the recording.10 years ago

Opera nobility
Such instrumental singing, yet full of pathos and feeling! When she trills, you KNOW it is a trill, and not a wobble like today's sopranos all have. And the soft singing! So intense, yet light. This kind of technique has been totally forgotten today, is not taught because no one understands it at all. There are NO sopranos today who have such a technique and artistry. None.11 years ago
