Had this single on wax, sometimes used to just rock the instrumental and catch a buzz after class....There was a graffiti video that came out in the late 90s that also used the instrumental while a bunch of freights rolled by. Wish I could remember what video it was.

No joke my 1st show ever was 3rd Bass, Nice n Smooth & Downtown Science at a club in Pittsburgh. Downtown Science replaced KMD who was originally billed. The crowd was lukewarm to them but I already knew about them & loved what they brought. Sever was sooo ahead of his time in terms of producing.

This is the dopest joint of the era. This, 3rd Bass, Pos K, Shan, Krs, all that experimental 1990-1992 stuff.

Downtown Science was way ahead of its time and hip hop still isn't there. I used to DJ the dub version and my audience was like...WTF? but they felt it because i had some ambient club backing it. Love the sample from Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds. I grew up on that joint as well. The closest I can imagine that flavor was Ice Cube's It Was A Good Day.
