DAVID ESSEX and RINGO STARR were in the great British film, "That'll Be The Day", 1973, capturing what it would have been growing up in England, in that period just before The Beatles were about to shake up the world. Excerpt from film in earlier post. David Essex's "Rock On" hit.

That song is just wrong to be performed like a pop hit. He seems to be rushing it and trying to make it exciting to an audience. That was a groove, mood song. Not a Shaun Cassidy song.

Oh yes, or him singing about Marilyn Monroe "still looking for that blue jean baby queen prettiest girl I've ever seen, she her shakin' on the movie screen, Jimmy Dean..." a tribute to America's finest.

On this day in 1974 {March 30th} David Essex performed "Rock On" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... Four months earlier on November 10th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #5 and spent almost a half-year on the Top 100 {25 weeks}... It reached #3 in the U.K. He had two #1 hits in his native England; "Gonna Make You A Star" in 1974 and "Hold Me Close" in 1975... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...

♥♥♥ Life's a Dance~!... "Hold on to what is good, if only with your heart. Reach out with kindness, if only with your words. Count your blessings if only with one hand." This was inspired by countless proverbs, a mash-up of Native American and Asian wisdom. It reflects the philosophy that even when there is little to hang on to, we can feel whole and still find something to give to others. From my heart, ~
