Arguably the triumph of Brian Wilson's 1988 debut album 'Brian Wilson', this 8 minute suite form song was recorded at Brian's request across several different studios in different parts and mixed together into one final version. Musically and thematically it looks back to his SMiLE album work, as well as in modular structure and recording technique. Written by Brian Wilson and Andy Paley and produced by Brian Wilson and Lenny Waronker.

This album, in spite of Brains mental state, is true to his creative genius. In a period of his life when it shouldn't have happened, it did!

Sounds like an early Animal Collective.

I didn't appreciate this album enough when it first came out. I let songs like "Night Time" and "Walkin' the Line" overshadow the brilliant majoirty of material. I was turned off by the original credits, with Landy's and Alexandra Morgan's name all over everything. And I know it was a difficult process to record. I also know that one of my very favorites, "Let It Shine", was mostly a Jeff Lynne song. But in the end, it doesn't matter, because it all has Brian Wilson's HEART in it, through and through! I haven't heard every solo album of Brian's, but this one really outshines *Imagination* (slightly) and *Gettin' In Over My Head,* which did nothing for me. But this album has really endured, and the bonus cuts enrich it greatly. If this particular song was intended to prove Brian still "had it" as the mastermind behind *Smile* ... It succeeded!

Brian Wilson, the cosmic genius of music proving once again, without him, the Beach Boys would never have existed.

Bless his heart. I've loved this since I first bought the album when it was released. I was thrilled that he showed the world that he was still capable of such a masterpiece! And then tackling the SMILE album, then performing it "live." He has nothing left to prove. He has given it all...!!!

The 1988 Brian Wilson album kept me going for a long time...his backing vocals and production alone stands out among the best he ever did - get the Deluxe Remastered Version to understand...

I have always been a huge Brian Wilson fan. I find his choral arrangements and instrumentation mind blowing, even more so considering he wrote Pet Sounds at only 23 yrs of age. In this particular song I am blown away at the break where the strings come in as mention is made below it is like "listening to a fabulous sunset made out of sound". Beautifully worded my friend.

And the smiles keep comin'. Thanks for this. Had the album when it first came out and listened to it over and over...a great musical message from an old survivor who nevertheless sounded endlessly young. His is the music of unbridled joy and poignant longing for something more. Listening to his stuff makes me feel like I'm listening to a fabulous sunset made out of sound.
