Richard Manuel singing "Tears of Rage" with The Band at Woodstock, 1969. (Complete song.) The video quality is poor, but it's a rare and powerful performance. I digitized this from a videotape loaned to me by a friend.

Such a true comment. Everybody in the band was so talented and all respected and appreciated one anothers talents and used it to the fullest. Richards voice is just so great. My favorite out there. Rip

Blows my mind, every time. North America's most legendary band on perhaps what has been the greatest stage the world has ever seen. Shrouded by darkness. Richard's voice pierces the souls of 450,000 people there and countless others all over this earth. THIS is forever.

The video may stink but it's the voice that counts and Richard had that voice

I truly believe that Richard's voice will be recognized one day as one of the most masterful and moving male falsettos of modern music. 'Whispering Pines' brings me to tears every time. It is the only music I want played at my funeral.

i feel it.....every time he opens his mouth and sings, the entire force of the band seems to be put behind his voice, and it just comes together in this beautiful ,beautiful push.it is,and will always be,one of the most amazing, and totally underrated musical phenomena, and it will lastr as long as beautiful, freeminded people walk this earth

i really think the beatles are good.they're my favorite band.but,i don't think they were the most talented, and probably, although they didbreak a lot of rules and make way for other musicians to do the same, they don't need to be in the top ten of everything
