This is the original version of "Ridin' The Storm Out" by REO Speedwagon. I haven't heard this version on the radio for more than twenty years. Judge for yourself if it is better than the live version (I think so).

I first heard this while stationed in California...GO NAVY!!! Still crank it till it rattles the pictures on the wall go off level. Anybody know that R.E.O. SPEED WAGON was the first "Fire Engine"? REO is the initials of Ransom E. Oldsmobile? Founder of Oldsmobile Motor Company.....ROCK ON AND HAUL A$$!!!

Give me the live version any day over this......other than the guitar solo, this could be a Neil Sedaka track for all I know.

I always thought it was better too. This version was also the first guitar solo I ever figured out by ear, so it will always be special to me. Some of his studio solos are so good, only to be replaced with junk in the live versions.

I saw this group lineup sing this in person in Grand Rapids Michigan mid 70's.

I've always liked Mike Murphy's vocals on this compared to Kevin's. It's just how this song was meant to be sung. However I do and always will like Kevin on the stuff he has done.
