This song kind of saddens me. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's just kind of... sad.

I will laugh at god in my death bed to my last fucking breath.

Atheists don't laugh at god in a hospital because they aren't thinking about some stupid imaginary friend. They are thinking about getting well. You know, by trusting science and what has been learned through the centuries. Not praying. The "No atheists in foxholes" cliché is so tiring. Just stop it.

My interpretation of this song is a bit different from what I'm seeing in the comments so far. In my opinion Regina is alluding to the fact that many many people see God as just a joke, this idea is repeated through the line "God can be funny" because we do joke about God and we do see ridiculous things like Churches that are out for a profit and crazy bible stories, but we disregard all of that in our time of need, when we want comfort, consolidation, hope, we let ourselves believe in a God we stop "laughing at God", then many of us go right back to where we were before.

I like how his song points out groups like westboro baptist church.

I've always thought this song suggests that the idea of an all loving God is laughable in the circumstances she lists. When she says 'God could be so hilarious' she's saying that 'God' becomes a funny concept through such acute suffering. That's what I take from it anyway...

It's a good song. But I will say I disagree with the lyrics - these are exactly the times I laugh at God. For allowing these things to go on while expecting our love. A test? I wouldn't kick my dog in the face to see if it still loved me after.

This video has many artistic references, every part of it is based on surrealism. It starts with her looking through the refractor, then the "Relativity" drawing by Escher appears, it means each person sees God in a different way, some more fancy/real (3D scene) some more physicist/realistic/unreal (2d scene). There are a lot of René Magritte references too, the giant apples, eyed sky, the masquerade, doves. Tommy Ingberg and others. When she walks through the fake stairs, is the same, "do you believe it's real? Is it an illusion? Is God real?" game.Every piece of this video means something. I dont understand much about art but someone who knows will understand. The video is almost like the song. She is saying that "there's a God for each person, He is not the same for everyone. God can be funny for so many reasons" God seems more surreal that real. At the same time He seems to be everything sometimes means to be nothing.(In an interview) She says that in her album she talks about religion and the various angles at which one can see God. She said she is a person of faith. But the way she speaks, she does not have a religion, nor is based on Christianity. She feels confused about it. - So that's why this video looks like this. This music video is about the misconception about God. :) - I'm a believer is Jesus, but I really like to see how other people believe or not believe, with all respect.

It's interesting to see all the religious "discussion" in the comments section. * ahem* Anyway, very artistic way of portraying this song, then again, she is very artistic.

I can tell you right now the single comfort in being told my Mum had cancer was knowing that it was nothing personal, that the universe is not arbitrarily governed and that death is the end of all suffering. Shock horror perhaps an even 'kookier' outlook than Regina's. Or just a rational and true one.
