You do realize that Cee Lo has been a solid performer for about 20 years in the US, yes? :) He started with a rap group, but really hit big time as a solo artist when he did a collaboration with Dangermouse (Gnarls Barkley) awhile back. He has rather always done his own thing, and when he got big chart success, it was as himself, doing his own thing.

I remember when the original version by Jackie Wilson was re-issued in the UK in the '80s when I was a kid, i went crazy, still love the song now. A classic #1 hit!
