One Hot Minute is still one of my favourite RHCP era's ever.. Dave definitely brought a darker light to their intergalactic funksex grooves

Yeah, and give no credit to Dave, right? He did a fantastic job.

It isn't really RHCP anymore- and that isn't a bad thing. It's a different band in a different territory of sound. Also, I think that OHM's B-sides are way better than some of the songs on the album itself, and it's the same with IWY- the iwy-sessions are unfuckingbelievable. Anyway, back to my original point- BTW is so amazing it's hard to explain it. Venice Queen just might be my all-time RHCP fav. But it's less diversive and it doesn't make any sudden changes in the band's sound like OHM did

Wow, It's hard to believe I wrote that comment. So much have changed for me in these 3 months in terms of musical understanding and appreciation. I do NOT think that OHM is better than BTW, and haven't thought so when I wrote that comment. I meant that it is more of an achievement in terms of explorations and a sudden change of sound. I love OHM and think it has some awesome shit on it, and that Let's Make Evil & Stretch are amazing. It's the same as IWY in terms of being completely different-

I agree OHM > IWY but i think OHM = BTW. They are both different but both amazing depending on your mood. OHM is fascinating once you get into the progressive dark influence of Dave in tracks like One big mob and one hot minute but By the Way has venice queen which makes me happy to be alive

Great for Dave for beign able to mimic John? I don't get people. RHCP isn't John. I love John and his music but every time something sounds similar to John's work with RHCP people suddently treat it as an achievement, but if it hdn't reminded them of John, they would have never thought that. OHM > IWY, OHM > BTW in terms of musical diversity, experiments (and successes) and more, though BTW has some of my favorite songs of all times.

Yeah, Dave and John are awesome guitarists - and OHM is one of my favorite albums, mainly because of Dave's heavier twist to RHCP.

Exactly, also with that kind of reasoning he shouldn't have even joined rhcp in the first place as Hillel already fckd that 'gf' pretty hardcore

Apparently you really don’t know him as a guitarist. And you don’t know his style and his special feeling to melodies like this. I recommend to watch "Star licks Master session" with Navarro and listen about his inspirations, about the way that he play and just listen HOW he play songs like “walkabout” ,” aeroplane” or some Jane’s Addiction stuff. Then you will be sure that this song is definitely in his style.

I Don't Believe that's Dave Navarro, It's Frusciante Style :S

When I first heard this song, I thought it's John's work. But then I found out it's Dave's. That guitar totally sounds like Frusciante's !!!! Great job Dave. By the way OHM is great album! ;)
