A beautiful Australian song that brings tears to ones eyes. The Dreamtime connects with our Aboriginals dreamtime, worth learning about their great Rainbow Serpent and why you should respect their belief.

The scent, a smoke on desert wind Beneath the Southern Cross Far beyond where time begins And generations loss I could not be further from you Now with both feet on the ground But in the dreamtime Souls take flight I am a closer to you now If I should lay me down to sleep By forest green or shining lake I could arise to find you gone To take for granted my mistake

Haunting soul stirring song that moves you to a higher plain. This song makes us believe the world is not just so bad. The man is a genius and a story teller of the utter highest quality. I come and listen to this song every now and then when I am at a low ebb missing my brother in law who sadly moved out to Australia in 2005.

Beautiful song, great singer. It took ages to find this - I loved it at the end of the Billy Connolly series about Australia. Trust Billy to use something so meaningful .

If someone heard his song and think that it is just a so-so song, try sit down and listen carefully. You cannot rush on Ralph's songs, it takes time to appreciate these songs. He tells somethings in the songs and the more you listen, you learn something more and the more you learn, the more enjoyable they will be.

I just love this amazing song. It's a superb example of the one of the finest singer-songwriting geniuses British folk music has ever produced. God bless you Ralph and long may you continue to make us laugh, cry and dream through your music.

This is the song I have been looking for, for many years since hearing it at the end of Billy Connolly in Australia. I have finally just stumbled on it after seeing Ralph at a concert in Eastbourne, and perusing You tube for some of the other songs he sang. Sadly he did not sing this, but I am looking forward to his new album having heard some of the songs.what a meltingly deep and melodic voice...cosy, like a dear friend! I have lots of catching up to do....this song is just pure magic !!

This song taxes the superlatives. Everytime I hear it, it seems to sound better.
