People! Listen to the style of Queen's music in this particular album (Queen II). It has some Norwegian Black Metal feel to it even though Norwegian Black Metal (or any type of black metal actually) came way after this. Pay attention to songs like 'Ogre Battle' or 'See What A Fool I've Been', Freddie Mercury even uses some guttural screams there which makes the songs somewhat dark. I am a fan of Black Metal (Venom, Mayhem, early Behemoth, etc.) and I think 'Queen II' took an important role to bring those types of bands to life. I think Queen pioneered the genre with this album.Actually, listen to Hortus Animae's cover of 'The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke/Nevermore'. You can find the cover of the songs here on youtube. Just search 'Hortus Animae- The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke/Nevermore' and you'll see what I mean. Queen pioneered the Black Metal genre.

Pay attention to those bass lines in 'The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke' though! John Deacon is a genius!

Freddie was genius and he stretched the boundaries or rock music more than anyone...before, or since.

This is a work of art. ...and Queen are masterpieces! So glad I was born in the 60's to really enjoy this at a time when it was all recorded and released! I despise today's music!

Absolutely amazingly ahead of its time, this album. One of my faves. Love that he sings with a predominantly English accent on much of this album. And no auto-tune, no studio BS. Yes, I know they used - and pioneered - multi-track vocals, but still, it was real, (very audibly) raw talent.
