@lastrada52 You're welcome…it's always nice to chat about these things. Hearing Chris Copping on banjo on SfL was quite odd…live he also plkayed that on numbers like Beyond the pale and power failure. Odd also to hear the commander on acoustic guitar (did that live as well in the 70s, but in the 90s he remained at the piano), Regarding Solley, in my opinion is one of the most underrated members PH ever had…Who knows what would have happened if they had kept on going after '77.

@JeckOverfull - Thank you JeckOverfull -- I wasn't aware Solley was a multi-instrumentalist. He certainly played great on this trackt. For me it's a fresh new Procol Harum sound because I seldom heard this band with a fiddle. I heard them with a little banjo -- like on "Souvenir of London" -- but never a fiddle. This is an excellent song.

@lastrada52 :) The fiddle was actually the official instrument of Pete Solley, even if he had long moved to keyboards. They did play this again at redhill in 1997,

Procol Harum with a fiddle !!!!! This is from 1977 !!!! I never heard it before so this is now my new -- Procol Harum song to play over and over. Wish they would do a new album with a fiddle again. That fiddle battle with the lead guitar is simply great.

@patreid100 You're welcome… Yes, a studio version, with solley guesting, would be wonderful. Did you knew he played it again in 1997, at the Redhill reunion? Now that I'm back I'll upload more once I've got again some spare time…

Keep meaning to thank you for this (why wasn't on last album with Whitehorn double-tracking or Solley guesting !), So Far Behind (different league to album version) and Skating on Thin Ice in particular. Wish the wider world of afficionado's knew of these and the rest on your channel. Maybe will e-mail 'Beyond the Pale'. Muchos Gracias, Top Man.
