I apologize for the picture.. I am using a new camera and not used to how it focuses yet. Aside from the "X" on the label, this is a truly NM copy. Both sides play with noise that starts when the song begins, so I think the master was noisy. This was issued on both an east coast promo with the "skyline" APT label and this very plain looking West Coast copy. I am almost certain APT only issued this record once, so this just about verifies that APT had their west and east coast records pressed simultaneously. This explains why "Little Star" by The Elegants came out on both a West Coast styrene and an East Coast vinyl press even though the books claim it was only pressed once with that label!

Hard to not recognize Jimmy Jones on lead vocals. I noticed his name in the writing credits also. Thanks for the post.

I know what you mean.. Stuff like this is almost an acquired taste. It probably would have gone over the heads of the kids that did get to hear it back then.

This is yet another example of how brutally difficult it was to make a hit. Obviously, no effort behind it is a death sentence, while the right DJ playing it over and over can move a record on the charts. Nevertheless, to me this is a song that could have made a little noise down low in the charts, but that's about it.Today, folks like us agree it's killer. But as for then, I don't think it has that magic something that makes a HIT. Sure there were lousy songs that hit, but hey, that's life.

..and... Amazingly, a big label like ABC-Paramount (who owned APT) went through the trouble of buying the master from another label and then did NOTHING with this. It was most likely "shelved" from day one.
