If Clapton was God in the guitar world, Green was surely Jesus.

I've read the Martin Celmins bio on Peter Green. Green didn't flip a switch at Munich 1970. He wanted to leave as early as late 1969. FM's manager convinced him to stay. I believe Peter Green discovered "Krautrock" (German progressive rock music) in Munich, and wanted to become very experimental in his music. "End of the Game" is not a Fleetwood Mac album. Green began to use his wah pedal A LOT during his remaining gigs with FM. The MI came 18 months later.

Look,I don't know for a fact what happened to them, and neither do you. What I do know for a fact is that their manager and those closest to them, like Mick Fleetwood, say something bad happened to them at about the same time. Both were OK,then suddenly they weren't. People cope with trauma in different ways, but it often involves isolation and self destructive behavior.Danny was no more the author of his descent than Peter. Some things make people fall apart,in different ways.

Danny Kirwan hated to be teased by Peter Green...he used to mock him as a "lonesome cowboy" by the songs Kirwan wrote. Kirwan was a tightly wound personality that needed to drink to feel better. Most alcoholics know this person. It's not BS.

Danny Kirwan became an alcoholic while he was with Fleetwood Mac. This much I know is true. By Seattle 1972, he was an out of control alcoholic, and he was fired. Peter Green was never homeless, because of his strong Jewish family, with the help of friends made sure has cared for. By 1996 Green was ready to make a comeback. Danny Kirwan in 1995 was in a homeless shelter in London blaming Peter Green for his problems. According to Martin Celmins, Kirwan would only talk for free beer.

Peter and Danny both became homeless.Peter, with medical intervention and medication, has recovered somewhat. He has left care.Danny never recovered. He's not a "wound up nervous personality that needs alcohol." That's unadulterated bullshit. The conditions of his care preclude that, and he's been there for some time.

You didn't know Syd Barrett took a lot of LSD that made him crazy? You obviously are not a Pink Floyd fan. Peter Green's mental illness was triggered by LSD, and mescaline. His mental illness took longer to diagnose. As for Danny Kirwan, I thought he was homeless near London 20 years ago, on a monthly gov't check. Then I read he found a girlfriend in Sweden several years ago. I feel for Danny because he's a wound up nervous personality that needs alcohol to calm him down.

Didn't know that about Syd Barrett.Thought his schizophrenia was genetic, not drug-related.But Peter was later diagnosed with the same thing, and didn't begin to recover until taking medication for it.Danny never did recover. He's still institutionalized,or as the British call it,in care.

I also have to mention, the ending riff to this song belongs in the RnR Hall of Fame as the best guitar riff EVER!!

I agree. This band had it all, the best early jam band >Allmans/Dead because they were British! I thought the term was "acid casualty". Most famous "acid casualties" are dramatic. Syd Barrett, Skip Spence, and Roky Erickson all happened within months, if not weeks. Richard Wright claims a doctor told the band Syd Barrett's brain was damaged in 1967. Peter Green wanted OUT of FM, he was sick of touring. Danny's anger came later via alcoholism. The best Green ever heard came after Munich.

It isn't just Fleetwood.Their manager,Clifford Davis, and others around them say the same thing--Peter and Danny began acting erratically around the same time. Both began showing classic signs of what we now call PTSD--self-medication,alienation of those around them, isolation, irrationality, and an inability to talk about the initial trauma. It doesn't happen overnight, often takes years to develop. We may never know the truth about not only the best Mac,but one of the best bands ever.

Don't believe Mick Fleetwood. He started the myth that Peter Green went crazy in Munich 1970. If you believe Mick Fleetwood's logic, why did FM invite Green back to replace "actually crazy" Jeremy Spencer 2/71? Peter Green never wanted to be a ROCK STAR. He knew that if FM released those Boston Tea Party tapes as a 2LP album during the fall of 1970, Fleetwood Mac would've changed forever! No California band. Green did go crazy, but it wasn't until the mid 1970's.

Then Play On is up there with Revolver,Sgt. Peppers, and Let It Bleed as the most important and influential albums of the 60's.Subsequent versions of the Mac may have sold a ton,but the original band was out-selling the Beatles and the Stones in Britain at this time, and couldn't care less. These guys had turned a musical corner, then something really bad happened.Otherwise,we might be talking about Kirwan/Green like we talk about Lennon/McCartney.

Peter Green would be lost to us without the internet. That history of FM while Lindsay Buckingham was in the band was "WHITEWASHED". When LB left FM in 1985, the Boston Tea Party Tapes were released in poor quality on LP. In 1999, the Boston tapes were remastered properly. How screwed up is a band, that made millions of dollars, afraid of it's past and how good it was!?!?! It's like Pigpen in the early Dead.
