As someone whose body is, and was, literally a cage, this song truly hits me deep.

Definitely a good cover but I still prefer the Arcade Fire original. That album, Neon Bible, much like the rest of their albums, is a masterpiece.

Whenever I'm hit with a flare from a certain neuro medical problem that takes my legs out from under me, and the PTSD then hits to the point where all I can see is a narrow tunnel that allows me to still see the staring eyes of people looking at me as I lose everything in a storm of pain, panic, shame, and at the center point helplessness so poignant, so noiseless, so cold that mere words cannot describe the silent terrifying madness of it. This song comes to mind in those moments.Thank any and all powers that may be, that such flares are a rare occurance made all the more so by proper medication that I didn't have for so many years. I'm gratefull, and so damn lucky that I can look back and know that, ever since a few years ago, I don't have to *fear* having such flaires anymore. I still have them, but it's been a year since I have had one so painfull that it's caused my PTSD (co-compunding medical issue) to kick me into what I can only describe as a panic attack. Pain is a part of my life, and always will be, but it no longer has the control it once did on the quality of it. While medication it a huge boon, the support of others was what made it possible for me to fight for medical care, to fight against an almost fatal depression,.....the support of those of whom I love, and have granted me the same in return, were the heros that gave me the one thing depression cannot stand against, hope, hope and a reason worth fighting for. A reason worth living for. So yes, I'm luckier than I probably have any right to be, and I am ever grateful for it,for them. Some one very wise once told me this: *"If you cannot live for yourself, then live for another"* (others) I keep this simple phrase locked in my heart, and will never let it go for how true it is.
