Kraftwerk-like base, but pretty boring.

oh stop talking it so seriously. you must be a big enough fan of the psb if you're here. "every thought's a fashion or a crime..."

You can't seriously consider disavowing the Pet Shop Boys because of one song you happen to disagree with. A song, by the way, that is steeped in irony because Neil could easily be singing about Pop songs (his included) which have all the same trappings of the Rock and Roll he purports to "hate". These disaffected, tongue-in-cheek songs are a PBS stock-in-trade. Throwaway B-sides and bonus tracks that are not meant to be taken literally. And they are brilliant at it!

There's nothing wrong with only liking one genre. It doesn't have anything to with being "close minded" (most misused word ever). Believe it or not, some people have very unique tastes. It doesn't mean they've never tried other music. What I hate more is when people pretend to like every type of music in existence, just because they think it makes them seem cosmopolitan or something. It gives them a false sense of sophistication.

Joy Division and the smiths were new wave, not rock and roll. And they didn't say anything about hating alt pop.

Trying to look through the eye of a life long electro lover, I can see their point. Rock and Metal have some popular bands that are every bit a crain cell killer as many contemporary artists. Hardcore Punk especially comes to mind. I do, however, lament their decision not to find some bands with intelligent lyrics, such as Iron Maiden.

I like Pet Shop Boys but they've just lost one of their fans. Sorry, Niel, but rock'n'roll is better than Chris with his tastes.

That's an insult to Joy Division, The Smiths, and all Alt Pop. Sorry to say it but the pet shop boys are boring old men now. BORING!

I think the PSB hate all types of music thats why they've been destroying music for the last 2 decades. They sort of shit the bed after the 80s. They had a couple cool songs since the 80s but this band totally and utterly sucks!!!!!!!!!!!

@Davaris122 I have never tried that. I just accept their taste in music and they usually ignore mine as long as I don't force them to listen to AFI :).

@Zeneeka0405 I totally agree. Tried it and didn't like it.

@PupSchoonagliffen Yeah, there is nothing wrong with being a bit open minded with music. Some people do not understand this. They are like: HOW THE HELL can you listen to Techno, Pop (PSB e.g.) and a bit of Rock/Hip-Hop at the same time? They even try to tell you that you're a trend victim. How can this be true when you go by taste and not by trends? And the tip of the iceberg: They don't even know the music you listen to because they never tried anything else except 1 genre. These are morons.

Surely, this does not refer to bands like Rainbow? Also, I was pretty sure I would only ever like punk and metal and that I hated pop music, until I discovered Pet Shop Boys (recommended by a punk singer) and realized it wasn't that I hated pop, simply that I had never heard any popular music that I actually liked. It's not always about the genre, but also about the quality. Long live PSB.
